A PROVOCATION: A Pre-Election Poetry Reading
This pre-election poetry event will feature five of the most provocative and activating minds and voices in contemporary American poetry: Anne Waldman (author of MATRIOT ACTS and MANATEE/HUMANITY), Juliana Spahr (author of THIS CONNECTION OF EVERYONE WITH LUNGS and AN ARMY OF LVERS ); Tyehimba Jess (author of OLIO and LEADBELLY); Don Mee Choi (author of HARDLY WAR); and Rodrigo Toscano (author of EXPLOSION ROCKS SPRINGFIELD). Each reader will share works –poems as well as original films and photographs—that provoke/inspire/demand critical and imaginative thinking around subjects and concepts that are fundamental to this year’s presidential election and beyond.
